J·K·罗琳在自己的推特上宣布，《哈利波特》系列即将推出系列新的故事《哈利波特与被诅咒的孩子》，将会以剧本的形式呈现。
每日邮报《被诅咒的孩子》将会讲述哈利波特的父母曾经历过的故事，故事中将透露伏地魔杀死哈利波特父母的故事细节。故事看上去似乎是在讲述《哈利波特》前传。
但是，JK罗琳很快在自己的推特上否认了这些细节描述，一再强调“这不是前传!这不是前传!这不是前传!“
